Red Fields in Panjin or Not

So here we are in Panjin city and we're in this dusty parking lot overlooking a lot of brown mud fields. Own the way here, we passed numerous oil rigs and lots of industrial warehouses. According to our tour guides we should have been right at the peak of seeing the seepweed bloom into a sea of red. What we saw were just a few patches of red but not like what you see in the pictures. Here's what my camera saw today.

My 80D fell right off my strap today and dropped about 3 feet onto the concrete . The camera seems to be still ok, but then I look at the shot above and there's a noticeable curvature on the horizon. I've probably damaged my Tamron 18-270 lens now. First breaking my Moto G phone and now this. Not having a good trip technology wise.

Probably all this guys fault! These characters lined the wooden jetty all the way to the coast. Quite ingenious given that they are just fashioned from rope.

Here's a local girl fishing for mud crabs. I had one at lunch, they are about the size of a dollar coin, no meat on the little guys.
